The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

Several years ago we visited this area and was told about this great restaurant, which we tried and enjoyed very much. The menu was wonderful, the quality of food and taste was fantastic. Today we were in town, so decided to try it for lunch. Not many customers, but some even had reservations for lunch. We must say, the prices have gone up, and the food quality has gone down. Service was not too great either. Here are a few issues today that we felt were not up to par: First, they bring you a glass of ice and a bottle of water. Pour you own. Problem is the water bottles have been opened, used, refilled and used again. Next our waiter had his "bluetooth" phone in his ear the whole time he was waiting on tables and serving food. The pasta was not fully cooked. The plates were heated, so the food was very hot, but the pasta could have cooked a little longer. Dishes and silverware needed to be replaced with newer items, not so worn, not so scratched and without all the water spots, even some old food pieces. We were disappointed and will not drive that far again just to eat at this Italian restaurant. There are better places in the Tucson area.

Don't do it! Don't waste your time or money! It's not even worth the drive from Green Valley, let alone Tucson. Okay, okay it's not that bad, but its not amazingly great either. We got there at 6pm, and were sat within a few minutes. Being sat immediately was nice, but our waiter was running around the restaurant and was barely available. It took him a long time to even take our drink orders and even longer to get our food order in. The "minestrone" soup tasted like spaghetti-o's. This was kind of nice, because it reminded me of my childhood. It really wasn't that great, it was mainly a tomato based soup, with pasta shells and lots of sugar. Then.... Almost an entire hour later our main courses came out. I decided that the chicken breast I ordered was probably thrown on the grill as soon as the order was put in and taken off maybe a minute before it was served to us. It was so hard, and overcooked, that even olive oil and sauce couldn't fix it. My butter knife, just wasn't cutting it either! Luckily, my friend ordered the Chicken Cacciatore, which was one of the specials for the evening and cooked perfectly. One thing I do give this restaurant credit for are their good desserts, The spumoni was decadent(!), as well as the Tiramisu. They also have a great wine selection. If I ever go back to this place, it would be for dessert and wine. Nothing else!

Very disappointing . I ordered the Chilean sea bass. Had better at long john silvers. It was very greasy and no flavor, may have been deep fried. When we went in we asked for a different table but the hostess said no and stuck us in the very back at at small dark table. They finally brought us a flash lite so we could read the menu. They had Disani (coca cola ) water on the table which was very hard to open. For what they charge it should have Perrier . Worst Italian food I ever had. Never again.

Food was good but nothing special. $10.50 for a mixed drink and medium sized I thought was a bit much. Service was slow but they were very busy.

The menu has many appetizing choices and in the end we decide to try the caprese salad appetizer, lasagna, and filet with shrimp Alfredo. We figured this would give a well rounded sample of flavors, and it did. The caprese was excellent, if a bit on the small side. Very good flavor, though. I was worried about the portion size of the entrees considering the appetizer size, but when they arrived I was OK with it. The filet was perfectly cooked (rare) and though the shrimp was a bit overcooked, both had an excellent flavor. The lasagna had a very fresh tomato flavor that I really liked. There was adequate cheese on top and not too much ricotta inside. The noodles were so soft they didn't really have any texture, but that is a minor complaint. Once again, the overall flavor was very good. They served two types of bread, garlic and another that I'm not sure of the name, but it was warm and soft and fresh and both were good. The second bread was similar to what is served at macaroni grill but I find theirs to be too heavily spiced, and this one was not. It was not busy and we had very prompt service. One way to really impress me is to keep my iced tea from running out. Not only did they do that, but it never even hit half empty, and it was real brewed tea. I do wish they had sugar in the raw but that's another minor complaint. We didn't try desert, but they had several options and I will try them in the future. Bottom line, it's not inexpensive but it is a reasonable price for what you get. Everything tasted very good, well above average in fact, and the service was exceptional as well. I would recommend it without hesitation if you want a nice evening out with good food in a pleasant atmosphere.

I don't know what the complainers are complaining about...but I know Cassandra wasn't "sat", she was SEATED...after reading the poor grammar, her further comments lost any credibility with me. I visited Ragazzi twice, a few years ago, and came home with the memory of the flavor of their marinara fresh in my mind and immediately set out to recreate it. It is a staple here now, made in 10 quart batches and frozen in two-person portions to pull out on those "what to fix for dinner" nights. It always takes me back to the very gracious, pleasant, attentive staff and service, and the excellent food. HIGHLY recommend a visit to this restaurant.

Nice atmosphere. Good food. Yummy bread. One of the very best places to eat in Green Valley. Most of the other places are very bland. This place has some very good spices in the bread and the food. The bread is made right there - we saw a wonderful pan of focaccia.

I was definitely not impressed. The portions were very small for the price. I had the linguini with clams. For $23 dollars it looked like an appetizer. The pasta was swimming in sauce. I thought I was being served soup. My wife did like her meal though. The service wasn't that great either. Not once did anyone ask if we liked our food. However, 4 different waiters asked if we wanted desert. For $50 you can do much better elsewhere.

I am sorry it's taken me 4 years to try this place. Starting off w amazing bread (2 kinds). And olive oil / balsamic. Eggplant Parmesan was only lightly breaded, just perfect. The sauce was really flavorful, not acidic at all. What a GREAT meal.

Been there 3 times in the past three weeks due to seminars in the area. If you want chatty, flirty, waiters you will be disappointed. If you want good Italian food and wine, then go. First time food was great. 2nd & 3rd time was a little above avg. But for price and quantity, you should be more than satisfied. Spaghetti and meatballs are a good choice. So is the soup. Friends had both eggplant lasagna and meat sauce lasagna with good results. Staff is adequate, quick, and efficient. Nuff said. Will be back.

So disappointed. Quality has gone downhill since last visit or maybe when ownership changed hands. Expensive, small portions. My husband found a strand of hair in his salad - no offer to compensate or even apologies from the kitchen- yuck! The chicken piccata was bland with a bitter aftertaste. The alfredo sauce was ok. Don't think we're going to be back.

Had lunch with 2 others. Share Eggplant Parmesan. Charged $4 to split a dish. I asked for a little more sauce and I was charged $3. We questioned the charges and they did not take it off. Never dining there again.

A gem of a place south of Tucson at the north end of Green Valley. Food: excellent; Service: excellent by our waiter Manuel; Prices: reasonable for the dishes they serve. Ragazzi's was a little hard to find on this our first visit as it's hidden away in a shopping complex behind the Best Western, but it's well worth the search. It's a quiet and comfortable restaurant with true chef prepared foods that all are well above average fare of the area. We were expecting a bit of Italian / Mexican fusion, but it was pure northern Italian. The lamb shank fell off the bone it was so tender. The mashed potatoes and gravy were tasty as were the onion, squash, red pepper and zuchini pieces served on a skewer. The crab filled cannelloni with a light tomato sauce was also delightful. We topped the evening off splitting a fruity tirimasu and two cups of espresso. The bill was $100 but included two very large meals, two glasses of house wine, dessert and coffee. We are only here for 5 more weeks, but we will be back for more at Ragazzi's.

The new staff has finally got it together. Friendly and service is back to very good. I'm sure its not an easy task to keep good people especially in a snowbird location. Last week had the duck marsala, really nice sauce.

The atmosphere is pleasant and inviting. We asked the front desk at the hotel we were staying at where there was a good place to eat that wasn't very far. They recommended this place and I have to say I have not had Italian food that good since my Italian uncle's cooking. The minestrone soup was delicious along with the petto di pollo piccata. I would come back here again in a heart beat if I didn't live so far away.

Had lunch just today. Most in my group had the egglplant lasagna and loved it! I had the penne pesto with garlic shrimp. I was surprised that the penne had both red sauce and pesto on it, not the usual. I couldn't complain though because the red sauce was excellent. Some who had the pizza thought the crust was a little too hard--not good for those who don't have good teeth. All in all I liked it very much. The waiter was friendly and helpful and the busboy cleaned quickly and frequently without being intrusive. Too small for large groups, but I liked the coziness factor.

4=Very Good. My first visit to Ragazzi this trip. I have to say it was one of my better visits there. This being early off season made it easy to get a 6:45 reservation for eight of us. We arrived a few minutes late but were met warmly and graciously by the hostess/owner. She is so charming and I really wish more places could be that way. We were not out to dinner. We were there for a dining experience. Three had Chilean Sea Bass which all said was excellent. One had duck...nothing left. One had Osso Bucco which melted in your mouth, a burst of flavor accompanying each bite. Let's see...one had shrimp linguini which was not what she ordered but I tasted and it was perfect. I had my usual, egg plant lasagna while the last person had a huge portion of the regular lasagna no complaints from either of us. Everyone left full and happy. I hope I have time to go back before heading home. Ragazzi is a place I will visit every time I'm down here. Wishing you continued success.
